Human beings have a natural and innate need to bond. If you can’t do that — because you’re traumatized or isolated — you will bond with something that will give you some sense of relief. Now that might be gambling, pornography, cocaine, or cannabis, but you will bond and connect with something.

Addictions

Addiction is a brain condition that results when an individual engages in an activity that can be pleasurable but the continuation of which becomes compulsive and interferes and interrupts primary relationships as well as other ordinary responsibilities and concerns, such as work, or health. People who have developed an addiction may not be aware that their behavior is out of control and causing problems for themselves and others.
